A Brief History of Publishing

Guidelines to Write a Great Book

If you are thinking of writing a book, here are some important guidelines that you need to know. Writing a book requires you to begin by writing a story that you would like to read again and again. Do not think of a story that will help you sell your book fast. Think of a book that you love reading. Think of what that book talks about. May be it is about history, mystery or romance. Do not write something so different from that.

What you should write what you love most. If there is a tone of voice that you love, or you have some characters that you like most, that is what is supposed to be included in your story. The idea is to ensure you write what you love. What will bring out your great writing is writing the things that you love. It will not be difficult to compose a story about things that you like.

You should begin by listing all the things that are your obsession. Put that list on your desk as you start writing so that they can guide you. As you start y0ur writing, start with a character. Make it look believable. Ensure that you let the character surprise you by giving the story a different direction. If the character dies nit surprise you; it may also not surprise the readers. As you begin to write your story, make it look like something that is surprising. Let your look like she is facing a persuasive problem, tormenting or challenging. That is what will compel the character to move forward. Think about something that the character will do to shape the future entirely.

The other thing that you should add is to make things happen. When there are happenings the story becomes something great to read. You cannot write something great if there is no action. You should go through what you have written and check each scene to confirm there is something happening in each of them. You should make sure what you are writing looks believable. make your story flow with same characters all through.

When you start a story make sure you finish it. Ensure you do not give up the story half way. After you finish with the story send it to the publishers. Even when some reject it, never give up. Make sure you get it out again and again. While you are waiting for the publishers to work on your book, begin writing another one. You should make sure you learn as you write and you will eventually know what works for you. All writers go through different backgrounds, and that defines what is better for them. All what you need is to make sure that you do not give up.
